1. The columns of the Citicorp center could not be built on the buildings corners because they had to avoid the church. They also needed to find a way to stabilize the silts so that they didn't crush the church.
2. Its major flaw was that LeMessurier did not account for the quartering winds. He found out that every 55 years a huge storm could come and destroy Citicorp Center. This storm could also cause a blackout and could break the tuned mass damper. Without the tuned mass damper a strong storm could potentially take out the buildings it hits in New York every 16 years. He further expalined that there was a 1in 6 chance that it would collapse.
3. An undergraduate student discovered this flaw and said that the building could blow over in the wind. He was studying the building as a part of his thesis and needed to make this information known so that LeMessurier could fix it.
